Deceased Name: DEATH: CORTLAND W. SMITH

Cortland Wood Smith, 45, passed away suddenly due to an automobile accident on August 2, 1992.

Cort was born Oct. 2, 1946 in Holladay, Utah to Elden Vance and Marion Olsen Smith. Was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He grew up in Holladay and graduated from Olympus High School. After his Army basic training at Fort Ord, Calif., he enjoyed working in Alaska as a commercial salmon fisherman. Upon returning to Utah he worked for Deseret Parmaceutical and later became a dedicated employee of Kennecott.

Cort was a very generous person who valued beyond measure his friendships and associations with others. He held a special fondness for all children, and he dearly, dearly loved his nieces and nephews, always showing kind and loving feelings towards them. He enjoyed the outdoors and took pleasure in fishing and hunting. The Lord allowed him to leave this life at the very place he loved to fish the most; in the Strawberry Valley.

Survived by: mother, Salt Lake City; sister, Shiree Christiansen, Salt Lake City; brothers, Dee R., Sandy; Shane K., West Jordan; six nieces; six nephews. Preceded in death by father; and brother, Craig.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 5, 1992, 12 noon at the Holladay 10th Ward, 2600 East 4800 South. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at the MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment, Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 Memory lane. Funeral directors, MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary.
